Please see below for a listing of questions most commonly asked by our users:

Q. Is it necessary to refrigerate Brer Rabbit Molasses, Regina Vinegars or Wright's Liquid Smoke?

A. It is not necessary to refrigerate a product unless specifically noted on the label.

Our Brer Rabbit Molasses, Regina Vinegars and Wright's Liquid Smoke are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration even after they are opened.

As with all products it is best to store in a cool dry area away from direct light and heat.

Q. Is there any alcohol in Regina vinegars?

A. U. S. Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that products that contain alcohol to indicate the percent by volume on the front label. We have no such indication because our Regina vinegars do not contain alcohol.

Q. What are the natural flavors in B&M Beans?

A. The natural flavors in the B&M baked beans consist of small amounts of mustard and extracts of natural spices such as allspice and cinnamon.

Q. What are the natural flavors in Polaner All Fruit?

A. The natural flavors are a combination of the different fruit concentrates, fruit essences, extracts, and natural essential oils. As the label states it is all fruit, the natural flavors are all from fruit.

Q. Are plant tours available?

A. We know plant tours are fun and educational. But because of security, insurance and legal concerns B&G Foods does not offer plant tours at any of our locations.

Q. Do your products contain MSG?

A. By FDA regulations, all foods with added MSG must list the ingredient on the label as monosodium glutamate. Our products do not contain monosodium glutamate unless listed on the ingredient statement. It is never included under "other spices" or "natural flavors."

For more information go to www.msgfacts.com

Q. Do you provide coupons?

A. Although we love to hear your comments and encourage you to give us feedback about our products, please understand that we have initiated a policy of not mailing out discounted product coupons on request. We hope that you will look for them in the Sunday supplement section of your newspaper or in magazines.

Q. What is the difference between Brer Rabbit Mild, Full and Blackstrap varieties?

A. Molasses is pure sugar cane juice.

After the cane is harvested and mashed the raw juices are boiled to extract the sugar.

After the sugar is crystallized, the remaining boiled syrup is first molasses. It is light colored, mild and sweet because it retains some of the sugar. This is Brer Rabbit Mild Flavor.

After the second boiling the molasses has a darker color, more pronounced flavor but a little less sweet. This is Brer Rabbit Full Flavor.

The third boiling produces blackstrap, which has a somewhat strong bitter flavor. This is our Brer Rabbit Blackstrap variety.

Q. Is Brer Rabbit Molasses Unsulphured?

A. Yes, unsulphured molasses is the finest quality. It is made from the juice of sun ripened sugar cane and the juice is clarified and concentrated. Sulphured molasses is made from green sugar cane that has not matured long enough and is treated with sulphur fumes during the sugar extracting process.

Q. What are the Brer Rabbit Nutritional Values for Magnesium, Iron, Potassium and Calcium (% US Daily Value Based on 2000 Calorie diet)?

Q. Do you have a gluten free product list?

A. Click here for our current list.

Q. Do you have a gluten free list for Ortega products?

A. Ortega has been following a strict labeling policy with regard to any allergens in our foods and incoming ingredients.

We have insisted that our suppliers notify us if gluten is used in any of their ingredients and yet is not declared on their labeling. Thus, we believe we have uncovered any potential use of gluten containing ingredients.

Therefore, any Ortega product is fully labeled for any presence of gluten or gluten containing ingredients. We find that this statement is much easier than our trying to maintain a gluten free product list.

The rock maple, hard maple, or sugar maple tree (acer saccharum) are the sources of the sap which is converted to Maple Syrup. Any sugar maple with a trunk diameter of 12 inches or more can be "tapped" for making syrup. It takes thirty years for a maple tree to grow to that size.
